IPAF courses promote the safe and effective use of powered access equipment and are accredited by The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). AFI are one of the UK’s leading approved IPAF training providers, operating nationwide from an extensive network of training centres, we can deliver an IPAF course to suit your training needs.
The comprehensive range of classroom and E-Learning courses covers mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), including boom lifts, scissor lifts, IPAF 1b, 3a and 3b categories of machines, mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) and construction hoists. Successful delegates will receive the relevant IPAF Card/IPAF Certification.
About IPAF Training
All IPAF courses are accredited by The International Powered Access Federation to promote the safe and effective use of MEWPS. The IPAF training programme for platform operators conforms to ISO 18878, and is aimed at individuals using powered access equipment in a work environment.
Courses are aimed at operators, service technicians, delivery drivers, managers/supervisors, demonstrators, installers and instructors. Successful delegates will receive the PAL (Powered Access Licence) Card, sometimes called the IPAF Card. This is valid for five years.

What is IPAF?
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide in the widest sense – through providing technical advice and information, influencing and interpreting legislation and standards, and through safety initiatives and training programmes. IPAF is a not-for-profit organisation owned by its members, which include manufacturers, rental companies, distributors, contractors and users. IPAF members operate a majority of the MEWP rental fleet worldwide and manufacture about 85% of platforms on the market.

Operator Training - 1a 1b 3a 3b
A mix of theory and practical training, this course is designed to enable operators to manoeuvre, drive and position the machine safely and proficiently. It can be undertaken on scissor lifts, booms, or truck-mounted platforms.

IPAF E-Learning
IPAF's E-Learning for MEWP operators is available for all MEWP categories (1a, 1b, 3a, 3b) and takes around three hours to complete, depending on your level of MEWP knowledge. The E-Learning module is divided into manageable sections you can complete at your own pace. You can save and resume your training at any time.

IPAF MEWP Harness Training
Identification of appropriate protection equipment and use, correct condition and fitting of harnesses are examined within the course, covering a range of MEWPS. However, it can be tailored to offer candidates achievement testing on specific machines – please remember to highlight requirements when booking.

There are a number of different IPAF training course categories available to suit different job roles within the powered access area, including Static Elevated Working Platform courses (IPAF 1a,1b), MEWP (Mobile Elevated Working Platform) courses (IPAF 3a,3b) and PAV (Push Around Vertical) courses.
